Department Overview

Transportation Director: Shawn Yates
Transportation Secretary: Sarah Bell
Transportation Secretary: Sarah Bell
We are transporting the most precious cargo on school buses each day. For us to transport them safely, we need our bus drivers to be able to drive without distractions. Drivers must navigate the route, watch for dangers on the roads and follow safety procedures as well as manage students on the bus. Students who are riding the bus and sitting in a seat with low and normal noise volumes are safe. Students who are not seated or are disruptive are going to cause distractions which will make the bus unsafe. There are going to be rules that you need to help your child understand and follow in order for them to ride the bus safely on each and every trip. Please help us keep each and every child safe with your child’s understanding of our rules.
It is our goal to provide safe transportation to each student who needs a bus to attend Monroe County Schools. This is a challenging goal to reach. We are only able to provide transportation with the resources that we have available within the school district. We do have bus routes that aren’t available because of bus driver shortages. Not only in Monroe County, but across the state and nation there is a shortage of bus transportation for schools. If you know someone who would like to become a bus driver or even a substitute bus driver, please contact the transportation department and help us transport our most precious cargo to gain an education safely.
We are going to post the routes and the bus number for each bus that is running a regular route. It is important that I verify the accuracy of the routes with the drivers before posting them. The times for pickup and drop off will not always be exact. Please arrive early to catch the bus or to meet your child for drop off each day.
Information for bus delays will be on the Monroe County Schools App. We will keep the transportation page updated as frequent as possible to provide information for parents and guardians.
