Monroe County Schools Awarded GEAR UP TN Grant to Enhance College Readiness and Success

The Monroe County School district is excited to announce that it has been awarded a GEAR UP TN grant, as part of a larger $35 million initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Education and administered by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC).
This seven-year grant, which runs from September 2024 through September 2031, will focus on enhancing college readiness and success for students in Monroe County.

Free meals available for all students at Monroe County Schools through the Community Eligibility Provision

As kids prepare to head back to school, we are pleased to announce that we will continue to operate the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). Therefore, all students will still receive meals at no cost. This is important as school meal programs play a crucial role in ensuring kids get three meals a day and have the nutrition they need to thrive in and out of the classroom.

CEP is a federal program that allows qualifying schools to serve free breakfast and lunch to all students at no cost. Families no longer have to fill out a free or reduced price meal application, and all kids get to eat nutritious meals. Click heading for full story.
