Meet our Coordinated School Health Staff

Meet Lacey Thompson, Coordinated School Health Coordinator.  She is a graduate of Lee University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development and Family Studies.  Her career started as a social worker with the Department of Human Services.  Lacey joined Monroe County Schools in 2005 as the Family Resource Director and made the transition to Coordinated School Health in 2012.  Her favorite part about her position is that she gets to be around her favorite people... children/youth. She is hopeful that she can be a constant reminder that: You are KIND. You are SMART. You are IMPORTANT.

Meet LeighAnn Collins, Coordinated School Health and Family Resource Center Assistant.  LeighAnn joined the Coordinated School Health team in 2022.  She has a passion for the health for children and youth in our school system.

🐾 Meet Chapel Thompson!
Monroe County Coordinated School Health's beloved Therapy dog!, and he’s ready to bring smiles, comfort, and calm wherever he goes. Chapel's partnership/employment with Monroe County Schools CSH office, started in 2024. 
Therapy dogs can help reduce stress, boost learning, improve social skills, and even lift staff morale. We can’t wait for Chapel to visit more schools in our district! 💛❤️
 
Meet Chapel – Our Canine Companion! 🐾
 Chapel is a golden doodle, that carries his ADA-certification of an approved service/therapy dog. Chapel is a proud graduate of Sequoyah K9 Academy
We are excited to announce that Chapel will be joining Monroe County Schools as a working companion a couple of days each week!  He can’t wait for his paws to hit the halls and begin making meaningful connections.
 
While Chapel may not speak with words, his presence says so much. You’ll find his “language” in his constant smile, warm hugs, and expressive green eyes. With every interaction, our hope is that he reminds students and staff alike of the importance of kindness, support, and connection. Sometimes, all it takes is a wagging tail to bring a moment of peace and happiness.
Chapel extends his friendship and joy to everyone he meets.

"I can't wait to meet everyone! I'm happy to share my paws, smiles, and hugs. I love my family, attention, belly rubs, baseball, and football. Let’s make some happy memories together!"
