Monroe Made: Chase Summey

Chase Summey, a 2017 graduate of Sequoyah High School, is a proud example of what it means to be Monroe Made. Deeply rooted in Monroe County, Chase has taken the values he learned growing up and turned them into a successful, family-operated business that serves the local community every day.

Chase is the half-owner of C&D Excavating LLC, which he founded alongside his brother, Dawson Summey. What started as a vision between two brothers has grown into a trusted, homegrown business known throughout the area for quality work and reliability. C&D Excavating LLC plays a vital role in helping families and businesses build from the ground up.

When asked what his Monroe County education means to him, Chase doesn’t hesitate. He says it “means the world” to him, noting that it is the only education he has received and one that fully prepared him for real-world success. The lessons learned in Monroe County classrooms, combined with hands-on experience and determination, laid the foundation for the path he is on today.

One teacher, in particular, made a lasting impact on Chase’s life. Without hesitation, he credits Mr. Pat Dial as the educator who influenced him the most. Chase recalls that SQHS math teacher Mr. Dial consistently pushed him to do his best and challenged him to think outside the box. Those lessons didn’t stop at graduation. Today, Chase relies on that mindset to help his company grow.

Chase takes great pride in what he and his brother have accomplished together. Building C&D Excavating LLC from the ground up has been no small task, but through hard work, dedication, and a commitment to doing things the right way, the business has earned a strong reputation in the community. For Chase, success isn’t just about business growth; it’s about trust, relationships, and giving back to the place that helped shape who he is.

From Sequoyah High School to business ownership, Chase Summey’s story is one of perseverance, family, and community pride. He is proof that with a strong foundation, a willingness to work hard, and the support of Monroe County Schools, great things can be built, literally and figuratively.
