The Monroe County School System will be receiving a third round of CARES Act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act) ESSER (Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief) money to help respond to and plan for the COVID-19 public health crisis. We will be receiving approximately $11,000,000 in funding that must be used in the following ways to help safely reopen and sustain the safe operations of schools and address the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on the nation’s students.
We must reserve at least 20 percent (approx. $2,200.000) of funds to recover learning loss. The expectation is that this reservation is for regular school year, summer learning, extended day, or extended school year programs.
In addition, funds may be used to improve school facilities to help keep students and staff healthy and in school.
We are seeking feedback from all of our stakeholders (students, families, employees, elected officials)! Please let us know what you think are the most important needs in our schools when thinking about helping students recover lost learning time, the health and wellness of our students, and advancing student learning opportunities.
*If you have students or are interested in multiple schools, please complete the survey for each school separately.
