The Monroe County School System serves approximately 5,200 students on twelve campuses in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade. Our motto, “Educating for Tomorrow – Today,” affirms our belief that education provides the best avenue for a bright future for the youth of our county.
“To provide students with a quality education that will enable them to be contributing members in a changing society.”
Monroe County is a predominantly rural county nestled into the foothills of the Cherokee National Forest and the Smoky Mountains. We are blessed with an abundance of wildlife and beautiful mountains. We are the fifth largest county in area in the state and includes the towns of Madisonville, Sweetwater, Tellico Plains, and Vonore. We are home to Tellico Lake, the now historic former Hiwassee College and are populated by a friendly people who have high values and integrity.
