Welcome to the Rural Vale Library
Hello, my name is Bobbie Akins I am the librarian here at Rural Vale School. I'm currently part-time here at Rural Vale in which I'm here only on Tuesday and Thursday and every other Friday. My other days I can be found at Coker Creek School. This year due to lack of space and room students only check out library books on Thursday and I travel to each room on Tuesday for a library activity. The other days the library is occupied by a new teacher which we gained this school year because of student growth. Students seem to be adjusting really well to their new library schedule. This schedule is only temporary until our new addition is built and the students will have a bigger and better library. (HORRAY!)
Students must remember to return their books on Thursday in order to check out a new library book. If the book is turned in damaged that student will be responsible for paying for that book. Also, the library is completely computerized with every item having a bar code. If a student removes a bar code they will have to pay for that bar code.
Most all books that are in the library has a Accelerated Reader test that goes along with the book. I encourage kids to read an AR book and then to take a test. This Accelerated Reader program is networked throughout the school. This program encourages students to read and to take test on those books which enables us to see if the student comprehends the story. Students will be awarded at the end of the year with the AR store and some students will receive AR shirts for their reading points. KEEP READING!
When the children come to the library I expect them to be on good behavior and to use their inside whisper voices. Library is for reading and researching and not for talking and playing.
