Why Rural Vale School?

Rural Vale is able to recruit and retain quality staff by offering a successful teacher mentoring program, equipping all classrooms with new technology, and nurturing a safe environment for learning.  Students consistently score the highest in the county on high-stake exams.  Rural Vale prides itself in a “family” like environment with an active Parent Teacher Organization.  The PTO has ensured that each classroom has a Promethean Board as well as money to use for classroom supplies.  Teacher turnover is low and the school encourages teachers to seek advanced degrees. 

Student teachers are often assigned to Rural Vale from local colleges and then advance to become full-time faculty members.

In addition, few discipline issues occur at Rural Vale.  In 2009-2010 the school had no expulsions and only 15 suspensions.  Various after school programs support the curriculum and instruction.  The school also maintains a low teacher to student ratio.  Teachers are afforded many professional development and leadership opportunities.
